Are you carbon neutral?Updated 2 months ago
Our product has a low carbon footprint because it is UK made, in a factory using renewable energy from recycled paper sourced in the UK. We also have an extensive tree planting programme that captures a lot of carbon and this will increase as these trees reach maturity.
Previously, we offset any emissions that we couldn’t eliminate to ensure our production and operations were carbon neutral, and we didn’t include our tree planting programme in our carbon neutral calculations. Recently, the laws for advertising green claims have changed so that those who offset their emissions are no longer able to claim carbon neutral. As a result, we’ve removed this from all our packaging and marketing claims. We support these changes and believe companies making green claims should be held to account to ensure transparency and reduce greenwashing.
The reality with Serious is that if we combine our minimal impact with our positive impact through tree planting, which you can see in more detail on our tree planting dashboard (link), our impact on the planet is a net positive, to use the language of the ex-Unilever CEO, Paul Polman’s recent book.
We are committed to doing all we can to further reduce all aspects of our footprint, including carbon, and maximising our forward impact on the planet.
